About
David Anderson
I did not set out to become a writer and narrative strategist. I set out to understand how capital works, and discovered that it runs on trust, and trust runs on language.
Three capital cycles across law, institutional investment and financial writing have given me an unusual vantage point. I understand how investment institutions deploy capital, build investment theses and navigate regulatory and reputational constraints. I also understand how institutional identity is built (or, more often, left unbuilt) and what that costs when trust is at stake.
Most communications professionals have never read a private placement memorandum. Most investment professionals have never thought carefully about why their institution struggles to say what makes it distinct. I have spent time on both sides of that divide.
That is where I work: helping institutions build the narrative coherence that earns trust before the formal conversation begins.
Curiosity is what got me here. Living through three capital cycles has taught me that asking the right questions is worth more than having confident answers.
